"Bayad po!"
"Sukli oh."
"Barya lang po sa umaga."
Coins can be considered as a connection from one person to the other, whether you know that person or not. A person can never have the same coins in his entire life (unless you're a coin collector). It is something that's very important to the lives of many, especially to those who are in deep need of money. It's almost everyday that we get to hear "Ate/Kuya, piso lang. Pangkain lang." With one peso worth piece of bread, it can ease the hunger of a person. Few coins can go a long way, may it be a centavo, one peso or ten pesos.
De La Salle University - Dasmarinas has once again set a goal to beat another world record. The university has successfully formed the biggest Human Lasallian Star yet. And it will continually aim to wow the people with its groundbreaking world record. As recorded in the Guiness World Records, the largest coin mural was created in Saitama, Japan. A measure of 30m x 40m of 2,546,270 one yen coins was used in the formation of mural of John Lennon's portrait that promote love and peace. DLSU-D aims to form a 40m x 40m of at least 2 million pieces of Philippine peso coins. The initial formation of coin mural will begin in March 6 and the actual coin mural formation will be on March 7, 2014. It'll be in display in the DLSU-D MTH covered court until March 9.
This project doesn't aim to put people in awe alone, but it intends to raise funds for the DLSU-D Disaster Relief Fund and Scholarship Endowment Fund. Interested donors are encouraged to support this project by sponsoring in monetary value or in any kind.
Come on, grab those coins and be a part of an incredible piece of art!
